#NA = Zombies?

For those of you who don't know I write on the side under the author name Vanessa Booke. I've been working on a novel for the past two years. It's been an on and off kind of thing, but I'm finally at a point where I see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Like many of our readers I love the New Adult category just as much as Young Adult. The problem is NA books have been limiting themselves too much to just Contemporary Romances. It's time to push some boundaries. I've seen a handful of authors who have been writing NA novels that are paranormal and fantasy, but I honestly wish that there were more.

So what does this have to do with me? Well, I decided it was time to share my upcoming novel with you guys. Originally, Dead Run was supposed to be YA, but the way I wrote it, it's really a NA novel (if that makes sense). For a while it was in limbo. It wasn't really YA, but it wasn't an adult novel either.

I'm happy to say this story has finally found its home in a category that existed, but never had a name until books like Beautiful Disaster & Easy came out. Dead Run is a New Adult post-apocalyptic thriller with several themes going on within it. One of them being romance. I think you guys will enjoy it and I hope NA authors continue to push boundaries outside of Contemporary Romances. While I love them they're not the definition of what New Adult is. That's like saying YA is only contemporary romances. It's just not true.

Here's the cover & blurb.

Carly Rios was supposed to go to college, forget about her first love, and live a normal life. That was the plan until the whole world went to hell and the dead started becoming…not so dead.

Forced to live in the same home as her abusive stepfather, Carly is hanging on to life by a thread and it doesn't seem to get much worse. But when the unthinkable happens Carly must reach out to Joshua Tremell, a man from her past, and the one who left her heart in pieces…

Carly Rios is the last person Joshua thought he'd ever see again. Not only did he mess up badly, by breaking the heart of the only girl he's ever loved, but he left to fight overseas and didn’t look back.

Now, Joshua has a second chance to make up for the past, but Joshua has more secrets than he can tell and his past mistakes are about to collide with the future he's dying to earn...
