Dark Wolf (Spirit Wild #1) by Kate Douglas

Synopsis: Sebastian Xenakis is still coming into his power as a wizard. He can shapeshift by magical means and runs as a wolf using the power he draws from the elements. But young women are dying—raped by a human and then slaughtered by a wolf. Suspicion falls on the shapeshifting Chanku, but Sebastian wonders if he might somehow be guilty of the crimes.

Then he meets Lily Cheval, the uncrowned princess of the powerful Chanku, and realizes he will do whatever it takes to clear his name and win her love. But evil walks where Sebastian goes, and there are mysteries neither Lily nor her father, the powerful wizard, Anton Cheval, cannot unravel. Is Sebastian the perfect mate for Lily, or is he instead, one she should fear.

Review: Kate Douglas takes us back to her wonderful world of shape shifters –the Chanku. This book features Lilly Cheval and Sebastian and their families. These characters are the main part of the story but there is also many sub characters that should be explored in future books. I found the attraction between Lilly and Sebastian a wonderful story and wish we could have been more of their story. We learn about where the Chanku get there power and Lily’s and Sebastian connection. Also the book has a great battle at the end of the book with the pack against Sebastian dad an evil magic user-a great way to end the book.

This book is a great introduction to a new series with traces of past books. But this book is not a
typical romance-this is an erotic book. In this book Ms. Douglas has her trade mark sex scenes –so if this offended you –you may not want to read this book. And in my mind some of it could have been left out and not been missed in the story. I am sure she was trying to show us packs connection to their animal nature even though they live like humans. Even with this being said it’s a great read and if you love Kate Douglas a must read.
