Synopsis: It was happening again. The dreams. The nightmares. It was something seventeen year-old Elizabeth "Lizzy" Hayes thought she'd outgrown; dreams that would come true; detailed premonitions of how people would die. This time she dreams about her boyfriend, Michael Young, and soon discovers that he's been found... dead. Michael hasn't crossed over because he was murdered, and now his murderer is coming for Lizzy. His spirit won't rest until she is safe, and as a newbie spirit, the easiest way for him to make contact is through Lizzy's dreams. When she dreams, it's as if he hasn't died. Lizzy must learn to pull on her inner strength to survive horrifying events. Meanwhile, in the spirit world, Michael learns everything he can about his supernatural gifts to help. But will it be enough to save her? (excerpt from Goodreads)

Review: Cameo Renae's book In My Dreams is a bitter sweet story about a girl named Elizabeth “Lizzy” Hayes who is haunted in her dreams by her recently deceased boyfriend. Michael's spirit is restless to say the least. His death was no accident and Michael's murderer is still on the loose and after Lizzy. Throughout reading In My Dreams I had mixed feelings about the book. I thought the story was extremely interesting and I really enjoyed the mystery aspects of the book but, the flow of the story and the sentences within the book didn't read so smooth. The sentence structure was very distracting and I felt it took away from the overall greatness of the story. Renae did a great job with her descriptions of Alaska and the descriptions of each character. I could really picture them perfectly in my head. I especially liked her description of Michael's murder describing his breath as a mixture of Doritos and beer. Simple details like this really made the characters jump off the pages for me. I did like that Renae kind of left the end of the book open for a sequel. I would consider In My Dreams a murder mystery with some paranormal elements. Overall, I found In My Dreams an interesting read. Although it did not reach all of my expectations I do look forward to reading more from Cameo Renae.
